Overview

The next update for Genshin Impact is just around the corner with several new features coming into the game. Genshin Impact 2.1 will conclude the story of Inazuma and will introduce new characters, weapons and areas to explore! The new version also coincides with the Anniversary Celebration of Genshin Impact!

The Update is expected to go live on September 1st 2021, based on Genshin Impact’s plan to release an update every six weeks.

New Islands

Genshin Impact 2.1 will add two more islands in the area of Inazuma! The Watatsumi and Seirai Islands.

Watatsumi Island is the resistance’s Headquarters and where the Sangonomiya Shrine can be found. Although part of the Inazuma area, the island is very different visually from the other three already in-game. Seirai on the other hand, is an island constantly enveloped by violent storms. An island that offers a unique exploration adventure.

genshin impact 2.1 release date

The 2.1 version will include the final chapter of Inazuma and the Archon Quest Chapter II: Act III “Omnipresence Over Mortals” that will conclude the story.

New Characters

Four new characters will make their appearance in Genshin Impact 2.1! These are:

Raiden Shogun is a 5-Star, Polearm user that wields an Electro vision! A powerful character that switches weapons when activating her Elemental Burst! When her Burst is active, Raiden Shogun is using a Sword instead of her Polearm.

Sangonomiya Kokomi is another 5-Star character, that is using a Catalyst and wields a Hydro vision. Kokomi has a negative crit stat, which means that she cannot deal critical damage. To offset this, she has an increased Healing bonus instead.

Kujou Sara is another Electro user. A 4-Star that wields a bow and can provide nice support to the group.

The Raiden Shogun and Kujou Sara will be available with the first banner while Kokomi will follow later.

Finally Aloy, is a character available from Genshin Impact’s first crossover event with Horizon Zero Dawn! A 5-Star, Bow user that wields a Cryo vision, which players can get for free as long as they have reached Adventure Rank 20.

Playstation players will be able to acquire Aloy first, during the 2.1 version. Everybody else will have to wait until version 2.2.

New Weapons

A few new Weapons will also become available in the new update. Two 5-Star and two 4-Star Weapons, available to get through wishes or in-game events. The new Weapons are:

  • Engulfing Lightning, a 5-Star Polearm
  • Everlasting Moonglow, a 5-Star Catalyst
  • The Catch, a 4-Star Polearm
  • Luxurious Sea-Lord, a fish-like 4-Star Claymore

To the above we should also add the Predator Bow, that players will get along with Aloy!

New Enemies

The 2.1 version also introduces three new Boss type of enemies to the game. La Signora is making another appearance, only this time she will stay around as a powerful Weekly Boss.

A Hydro Hypostasis and an Electro version of the Oceanid Boss will provide players with additional challenges.

New Events

The new version also offers several new events! Moonchase Festival is the main event of the update and will begin with Genshin Impact 2.1 release! Other events include Lunar Realm, Hyakunin Ikki and Spectral Secrets.

The anniversary event for Genshin Impact will also take place sometime around September 28, 2021. More info on this special celebration event coming soon.

Moonlight Merriment, part of the Moonchase Festival, revolves around cooking and food. During this event you will also have the opportunity to obtain the 4-Star Claymore, Luxurious Sea-Lord.

Players will have to locate and loot Moonchase Charms and Mystmoon chests around Liyue, Mondstadt and Dragonspine. Another activity during the event is to follow a trail of delicacies! Players will have to locate camps of enemies and defeat them to receive rewards. You can submit special dishes to receive various buffs during this.

Lunar Realm is a Fishing event that will introduce this new feature to players!

Hyakunin Ikki is a combat based event, where players can use Trial ready characters while Spectral Secrets brings back an expedition based event in Genshin Impact.

Fishing

Fishing is officially being added to the game! Players can fish in designated areas of water by using a fishing rod and special bait, based on the area. You can catch fish like this for cooking but also to exchange for special rewards.

It will be possible to acquire new Rods that have unique effects as well. Ornamental Fish is also a special type of fish, you can catch and raise in a special pool furniture inside the Serenitea Pot.

To capture a fish successfully, you will have to play a mini game. More info on this at a later date.

Other Features

The Housing System is getting a nice update. With Genshin Impact 2.1 Release, along with the special pool, where you can raise Fish, the system will also reduce the load when putting furniture of the same type in the same area.

So it will be possible to place more furniture than before.
